Weekend Snapshots

Snapshots from a BUSY Weekend

Friday Night Date Night...no photos but we finally saw THE HUNGER GAMES. I read the books several months ago but Chris just spent the last 2 weeks reading books 1-3 so he was dying to see the movie.  I had just finished another book that was also in the theatres but I assure you he did not want to see it. We were able to get a trail run in together too...I love running with Chris.

I was thinking our weekend would be pretty laid back however I had apparently not looked at the "boys" calendar...Friday Taekwondo, Saturday morning bowling, Saturday afternoon Baseball scrimmage, EUMK senior Sunday and a little project...oh well BUSY BUT FUN!

Saturday morning Tanner went bowling with Mrs. H and Mrs. H, his K teachers.
At the EUMK Family Night a friend of Tanners bid on "Bowling with the SK teachers" so D invited Tanner to come along. The boys had so much fun bowling with the teachers.  We never think to go bowling but it would be a fun winter Friday "Family" night activity or a good December birthday party!

Look at all of that baseball cuteness. I may not know much about the game but I love shopping for the gear...the red socks stressed him a little but in the end he decided they were cool. Tanner did not get his baseball skills from me...I have no hand eye coordination..i.e....I close my eyes when the ball comes my way. Tanner has actually been helping me work on my throw...he also keeps me from getting lost when I drive...what would I do without him???

Tanner is playing up this year...technically he was suppose to play T-ball again but the Sports Director at Hope encouraged us to play up so we did.  I think it was a great choice because he is really learning the game.

I am a little nervous to type it...
BUT
Sam has been so good at the practices and was great a the scrimmage.  A good friend of Tanners has a little brother who is almost 4 and they play great together. His mom and I are both "single" on practice night...both hubbies are in school so we always have our whole crew with us(she has 3 boys). My dad has been really helpful and offers to help whenever he is in town but so far no meltdowns.

Getting out a few of Sams' birthday presents. It was hot so it was a great sprinkler day.

The boys made a marble run using water heater pipe insulation, a box and some painters tape.  It entertained them for about an hour...woo-hoo! Thank you Pinterest.
Do you see the PROJECT??
A new front porch...we decided our house needed a little pick me up but we didn't want to rob a bank to do it.  We ended up painting our shutters, the front door and taking down the cedar columns to add what you see. I think overall we spent maybe $200...the labor lives here!

My handsome Kindergartner getting ready to head to Senior Sunday at EUMK. I can not believe he only has a few weeks left. It has been such an amazing year for Tanner.

The new front door color BM...Palladian Blue.  I now feel like the outside of our house matches the inside...more pictures to come.

lately

Lately...an ipad and iphone dump

Sam got a haircut after school today.  Both boys have 1/2 days on Thursdays so we met my dad to trim the boys up.  He has taken the boy to get haircuts for every single haircut they've had...male bonding time...sometimes mom even comes...I wonder if other kids have grandparents, parents and aunts at their haircuts! Oh he always picks up the tab because he's generous like that...thanks dad!!

We go to FUNCUTS...which I highly recommend for kiddos...indoor slide, train table, video games, movies...it ROCKS!  Sam is watching Scooby Doo Meets Batman below...not a fuss. Mr. Ray is the best with boys...he has hair eating dinosaurs, shark juice and balloons!

Lunch...yes my only choice was to eat the goldfish from Sam's school Easter eggs.

Tanner and Chris love to bike ride on the trails.  Chris is teaching Tanner that it is important to take care of his new nice bike...so he put him and Sam to work washing the muddy bikes. I was really impressed they were squeaky clean.

In other news...MY CAR WAS FOUND...see it above it the rain boot and skateboard photo!!! Hallelujah...this was my prayer so we are very grateful.  We are taking it to the body shop Monday...the thief was not the best driver...he hit a thing or two so off to Joe Stewart it will go! I am so thankful to have it home, clean out and soon dent free.

6-14-03

I am so thankful that God blessed me with a husband who loves me so very much!  Chris certainly strives to love me as much as Christ loved the church (Eph. 5:22).  He listens to my big plans, prays for me and calms me down when I freak out!  When he is not here I miss him terribly, he is my best friend...everything is better when he is here!
I am so very thankful for you Chris.  I don't thank you enough but you help our family more than I give you credit for. Thank you for loving me through thick and thin...I can't wait to see what God has in store for our marriage over the next 8 years!

HOT Donuts...COLD drinks...50 cents

The Chef

Sprinkling and Powdering

Most Saturday mornings, Chris takes the boys to breakfast while I run! However every so often Chris makes donuts! Tanner has decided this could be his business...we made trays and the boys spent an hour selling us donuts, sprite and strawberries. Tanner was happy to trade food and drinks for a nickel...Sam would pretend to give you something and then decide he preferred the food over the nickel!

Medieval Feast

Tanner just spent the past few weeks talking about castles, knights and fairy tales at school.
He was very interested in the knights and dragons so we took several trips to the library to find some books. Our sweet librarian helped us find these:
The Dragon Machine by Helen Ward
There's a Dragon in my Sleeping Bag by James Howe
which we loved!

Tanner loves to make his costumes...he always has this vision in his head and it's my job to figure it out! I showed him several costumes on Etsy but he was not thrilled. We took a quick trip to Hancock's and his picked out this BRIGHT orange fabric for the "scales and wings" he said. I was determined to keep the budget low so the only thing we bought was the fabric! As we were headed out the girl was carrying to cardboard pieces that the fabric is wrapped around so I asked if I could have them...SCORE...spikes!
We used cereal boxes to make the front and back pieces for the scales. Egg cartons became the eyes and everything else was scraps we had laying around...wire, felt, google eyes, paint, ropes, glitter!

Sam adores the costumes...I'm thinking Halloween costume!

EUMK MEDIVAL FEAST
...the feast was so much fun...we had drummies, tarts, cakes and sparkling cider
...they drank from mint julep cups...so fancy
...and ate biscuits with butter they made

NOTE...the fabulous castle was made by my husband!

Married to a Marathoner

He DID it...I am so proud of Chris for finishing his first marathon last Saturday!
For those of you who don't know...he started running in July when he decided to say good-bye to his long habit of dipping.
He has wanted to quit for a long time and after years of praying that he would quit God finally put the words in Tanner's mouth...
"don't step in that mud puddle...it looks like what daddy spits"...
and just like that conviction finally came at the hands of a 4 year old!

So he decided he needed a new hobby...

Thank you God for answering my prayer and for putting a new common interest in our marriage!!!

Unconditional Love

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

sorry blurry pictures

It seems like just yesterday we were in Seaside getting married. I am amazed that we have already been married 7 years BUT even more excited that it's really only just begun.

The secret to our marriage is my husband truely loves me unconditionally:

my constant key and cell phone misplacement,

my crazy rants followed by begging to forgive me,

my inability to remember anything,

my OCD,

my ADD,

my so-so cooking,

my terrible singing with made up words that I think are right,

my diet dr. pepper addiction,

my choice to play instead of clean,

and

the list goes on...but i think you catch my drift.

THANK YOU Chris for being a quiet man of God, a devoted husband, an involved hands-on father and for showing me each day how much you still love me. Thank you for choosing your family over stuff, thank you for considering the home our job and not just mine, thank you for always making me feel safe.

I am more in love with you today than I was 7 years ago in Seaside. I LOVE YOU!!!

Oh my talented BOYS!

EUMK's auction is tomorrow.
Being the room mother, it was my job to come up with something created by Tanner's class YET worthy of buying.
LUCKILY I am married to a man of MANY talents.
I knew he could make whatever my brain THOUGHT of.
So,
I went to EUMK.
Painted a giraffe with each child (with the help of the other room mom).
Made this COLLAGE on Picasa.
Printed it at Kinko's.
Loaded up the BOYS and headed to LOWE'S.
Watched as my FABULOUS husband browsed the aisles for picture frame materials.
Went home fed the boys dinner(gourmet Little Caeser Pizza) while CHRIS MADE THIS.
Isn't it AMAZING!!!
It's hard to see but it's blueish-green paint with cream and brown on it!
I have paid BIG BUCKS for these beauties!
I already have my eye on a photo to be framed in one of Chris' NEW CREATIONS!!!
Thanks for making my job so easy, I LOVE YOU!

And of course, Tanner with his AMAZING giraffe!
He is very proud of the things he creates.
He also wants to KEEP them all.
AND
Space is limited at my house!!!!
